IMPORTANT INFORMATION

The concrete testing laboratory is uniquely equipped compared with other independent laboratories in South Australia to carry out a full range of trials and testing of various grades of concrete, including concrete trial mixes, testing of fresh/ plastic properties and hardened properties of concrete.

Our concrete trial mixing area enables us (upon request) to simulate winter conditions for concrete casting/placing. Concrete trial mixes can be performed at controlled temperatures ranging from 7°C to 23°C. The concrete laboratories also include temperature& humidity- controlled testing rooms, such as a large shrinkage room, and many curing tanks for cylinder specimens.

The laboratory is fully equipped with concrete mixers, vibrating tables & other specialised compaction equipment, a wide range of moulds (for cylinders, flexural moulds, drying shrinkage), air meters for air content of plastic concrete. The testing equipment also includes automated mechanical testing machines and specialised testing jigs and rigs (for compression, flexural, indirect tensile strength testing.) Critical characteristics of any concrete are consistency, durability and workability.
